@KOTTARAKKARA News, Tragedy struck in Kozhikode as a young child succumbed to amoebic encephalitis while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Mridul (13), hailing from Farook, tragically passed away at 11:30 pm, marking the third fatality attributed to the disease in the state.

The child's battle with amoebic encephalitis began with admission to a private hospital in Kozhikode on June 24. However, by Wednesday evening, the situation had deteriorated significantly. Initially, Mridul had been bathing in Achamkulam near Farooq College when symptoms of the illness surfaced, manifesting as severe headaches and vomiting. Subsequently, he was transferred to the medical college before being redirected to a private healthcare facility for further treatment.

A 7th-grade student at the Higher Secondary School, Mridul's untimely demise has left his family and community in mourning. The funeral rites for the departed soul are scheduled to take place on Thursday at 1 p.m. Mridul is survived by his parents, Ajit Prasad and Jyoti, and his brother Milan, as the community grapples with the loss of a promising young life to this devastating illness.
