The World Health Organisation “has failed the world” and the first step towards rectifying the situation is for director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to be removed or relinquish his position says Sky News host Chris Kenny.

Mr Adhanom and the WHO have come under heavy security for their handling of the current deadly coronavirus pandemic, especially in its early stages.

Mr Kenny said the Communist Party of China had "failed to stop the spread of the disease around the world, and the WHO did not call it out”.

“Instead, its chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus visited Beijing late in January, was feted by Xi Jinping and obviously was hoodwinked too”.

Mr Kenny said the “biggest mistake” made by Mr Adhanom was to make “light of the disease” along with his hitting out at travel bans and “suggesting people should still be free to move around the world”.

“That surely was his greatest mistake, and it was one, thankfully, that many countries, including our own, ignored”.

“If you support the WHO, or if at least you support its aims of improving health around the globe, surely this bloke's got to go, sooner rather than later,” Mr Kenny said.
