The coronavirus pandemic is wreaking more havoc across the world than any terrorist attack, the World Health Organisation's director general has said.

Speaking on Wednesday, Tedros Adhanom said the WHO's emergency committee will reconvene on Thursday, some three months after first declaring a global health emergency.

Mr Adhanom called for "unity at a national level and solidarity at the global level" in the fight against Covid-19.

He said: "More than ever, the human race, humanity, should stand together to defeat this virus.

"This virus can wreak havoc - more than any terrorist attack."
