Learn why a coin does not sink in the Mercury metal.

The density of mercury is about 13 times higher than that of water. Hence, some objects that drop in water will float on mercury, including pieces of lead, silver, and steel. However, pieces of the gold sink, because gold has a higher density then mercury does.
